So what is in this Fruta Vida juice - part 3 Cupuacu

The cupuacu tree (pronounced "coo-pwah-sooh") is a member of the chocolate family and bears fruits that are roughly the size of a melon. It grows in the Amazon rainforest and has long been an important and nutritious health food for the indigenous peoples of the region.
Like chocolate, the Cupuacu fruit is widely admired for its delicious flesh. The fruit is used throughout Brazil to make a range of products such as jam, ice cream and a lovely fruit juice. The popular fruit ripens in the rainy months and is quickly snapped up by eager buyers, wanting to sell it in the cities of Brazil where demand for it exceeds supply.
The cupuacu fruit is also becoming well known outside Brazil, and is in fact already used in the West, to make a tasty and healthy chocolate alternative. In fact, like chocolate, the cupuacu is being widely studied by scientists keen to understand some of its health-giving properties.
Because of the close relationship between chocolate and cupuacu, many of the health benefits that are attributed to chocolate also apply to cupuacu. It may well be just a matter of time until cupuacu becomes more famous than chocolate! As well as the wonderful taste, it has some amazing health properties, and scientists are very excited about its potential to deliver a superb boost to human health.
A pharmacy in a fruit
Experts are finding that this fruit from the Amazon is absolutely packed to bursting with antioxidant phytonutrients known as polyphenols (please see our antioxidant page for more information on these). You may have heard of polyphenols contained in other health foods, such as grape seeds and green tea.
The marvelous discovery about the polyphenols in cupuacu is that they are totally unique, and have never been seen before. This new revelation is causing a stir in scientific circles and has prompted experts to give the new polyphenols in cupuacu their own name. These theograndins are excellent antioxidants, and can help you achieve optimum health the natural way.
The antioxidants in this fruit are extremely potent and provide outstanding cardiovascular and immune system benefits.
There are many healthy reasons to eat this delicious Rainforest fruit, and some of them are:
• Increased libido
• Increased stamina and energy
• Build up your immune system
• Have younger looking skin and fight off effects of aging
The antioxidants in cupuacu are extremely potent and provide outstanding cardiovascular and immune system benefits. This is because antioxidants are essential to help us neutralize free radicals, the compounds that often cause the body to grow wrinkled and develop degenerative diseases.
Free radicals are reactive and very dangerous forms of oxygen that can enter the body as the result of pollution, sunlight and chemicals in the environment. Most free radicals in our bodies are there as a by-product of our own metabolism. When cells use oxygen and hydrogen to make energy, positive and negative charges are moved around, and elements that are normally stable become charged and unstable. These charged and unstable particles are called free radicals, and are highly damaging to healthy cells unless they are removed or neutralized.
In addition to strongly contributing to the effects of ageing (wrinkled skin and degenerative diseases), free radicals are also implicated in one of the most frightening diseases of our time: cancer. Studies have shown that certain cells, when damaged by free radicals, begin to reproduce out of control. If these cells are allowed to carry on reproducing they can become cancerous.
It is reassuring to know that we can help neutralize the dangerous free radicals and therefore give ourselves the edge against a host of diseases and other age related problems, by taking natural products high in antioxidants.

So what is in this Fruta Vida juice - part 2 Yerba Mate

What is Yerba Maté??

Yerba Maté (Ilex paraguariensis) is a small tree native to the subtropical highlands of Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina. This evergreen member of the Holly family was introduced to colonizing and modern civilizations by the Guarani Indians of Paraguay and Uruguay. The drink is brewed from the dried leaves and stemlets of this perennial tree. Yerba Maté is known as the national drink of these countries, and is consumed by millions of South Americans as a healthful alternative to coffee. This stimulating herbal beverage has the unique ability to wake up the mind without the nervousness and jitters associated with coffee. Deemed "The Drink of the Gods" by many indigenous groups in South America, and known as "the green gold of the Indios" by folks in Europe, yerba maté possesses a multitude of health benefits that have begun to attract the attention of American scientists and consumers.

Isn’t Yerba Maté just another "green tea"?

No. Tea is a beverage made from the processed leaves of a plant whose Latin name is Camellia Sinensis. There are three varieties of tea: green, black, and oolong. While tea can be grown in a variety of tropical and subtropical environments, the tea plant is indigenous to China, Tibet, and northern India. Most people associate tea with these locations (the Far East and Asia).
Yerba Maté is not derived from the tea plant. It is a completely different drink from a different part of the world. In the United States, South America is more often associated with coffee bean production than anything else. However, consumers outside of South America are beginning to realize there’s more to the land than just coffee plantations.

What is the nutritional value associated with Yerba Maté?

The beneficial and therapeutic aspects of yerba maté, portrayed from centuries of observation and use, have recently been verified by a number of scientific studies. The chemical components of yerba maté are similar to those found in green tea; however, as we’ll see, yerba maté is much more nutritious.
People worldwide refer to this herbal infusion as a "whole body tonic." Tonics are substances provided by nature for the repair and maintenance of normal physiology. According to Webster’s Dictionary, tonics "invigorate, restore, refresh, or stimulate [some aspect of one’s physical well-being]." Here at Aviva we don’t like to use the term "tonic" because it reminds us of those con-artists of the 1800’s who would ride from town to town, selling colored water as “tonics” or “potions” that would cure all your ills. In truth, however, yerba maté may be the closest natural beverage to a whole body tonic that is on the market today. A combination of observations and research from the scientific community gives strength to that claim….
There are 196 volatile (or active) chemical compounds found in the yerba maté plant. Of those, 144 are also found in green tea. Yerba Maté contains 11 polyphenols. Polyphenols are a group of phytochemicals. Phytochemicals (phyto- meaning plant) contain recently-discovered compounds that act as powerful antioxidants and are considered to exhibit anticancer effects in mammals by strengthening an organism’s natural defenses and protecting it against cellular destruction (i.e. lycopene in tomatoes, flavonoids in blueberries, and isoflavones in soy). In addition to polyphenols, yerba maté leaves contain saponins (In fact, one study yielded 3 new saponins in the Yerba Maté leaf!) Saponins are phytochemicals that have been found to specifically stimulate the immune system and aid the body in protecting against disease.

MLM Jumping Frogs

It amazes me the number of opportunities that people become involved with, the sad thing is that the average person stays in an mlm for between 30-90 days. I have been building my Fruta Vida business for just over 3 months and my team has grown to 35 and is growing bigger each month.

I have also indentified a couple of leaders who are starting to put their own business together. The new http://www.fvidabizopp.com is really going well and has been updated to reflect the fact that we are in 2006.

2006 is going to be a good year for Fruta Vida, there are plans to reduce the price in Europe, so watch this space.
